About Iyengar Yoga
Iyengar Yoga is a science, a philosophy and an art. BKS Iyengar, the founder of Iyengar Yoga brought his method to the United States in 1976. Since then this method has flourished around the world. The iyengar method has illuminated the use of props, such as wooden blocks, chairs, blankets, and belts to help the body into correct alignment. Even though BKS Iyengar is well into his 80’ss, his precision and dedication to the holistic aspects of Yoga has made this method one of the safest styles of Yoga.
It was this precise, sequenced methodology that was the inspiration for Jo Ann to begin her Yogic path in 1992
Jo Ann is a Certified Iyengar teacher. Her love for the transformational aspects of Iyengar has helped many of her students to recover from injury and to progress on their spiritual path.
It was truly a blessing for Jo Ann to meet BKS Iyengar in Estes Park, Colorado and also Geeta Iyengar in Las Vegas Nevada. The presence of the Iyengars in America demonstrates their commitment to Yoga around the globe.
Iyengar Yoga truly uses the eight limbs (ashtanga) of Yoga, combined with sequenced practice, pranayama breathwork and Sutre study for the development of spiritual growth.
